Delhi Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena criticized the previous Aam Aadmi Party government for delaying the transfer of land in Narela to two government universities for their new campuses. Despite land allotment in January 2024, the previous government did not fulfill the requests of the universities and did not make the necessary payments.
During a ceremony, over 35 acres of DDA land were formally handed over to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) and Delhi Teachers’ University (DTeU) in Narela. Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood was also present at the event.
The LG emphasized the importance of establishing new university campuses to enhance higher education infrastructure in the National Capital. The move aims to develop Narela as an educational hub with modern amenities, supporting DDA’s efforts.
Following the new government’s allocation of Rs 500 crore for land purchase in its first budget, payments totaling Rs 452 crore have already been made to the DDA. An additional Rs 500 crore has been approved for 2025-26, showcasing the government’s commitment to advancing Delhi’s educational and socio-economic future.
Minister Ashish Sood commended the Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University (DSEU) for its achievements and pledged to enhance facilities and boost campus placements. He highlighted the university’s progress in promoting innovative ideas and assured students of collaborative efforts with start-ups and PSUs to improve placement opportunities at DSEU.
