Quoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Delhi Lieutenant Governor T.S. Sandhu highlighted that in Indian culture, holistic development encompasses moral progress, social harmony, environmental balance, and cultural strength. Speaking at Hansraj College of Delhi University, the L-G stressed that India’s goal of achieving Viksit Bharat by 2047 goes beyond mere economic growth to include ethics, social harmony, and collective responsibility. He emphasized the importance of youth in realizing this vision, as they embody the values of service and responsibility crucial for India’s future.
Sandhu underscored the significance of nurturing the younger generation with values that are essential for the country’s progress. He acknowledged that societies worldwide that prioritize youth in development demonstrate innovation and long-term resilience. Congratulating students who excelled in the UPSC and State Civil Services examinations, Sandhu emphasized that public service is not a privilege but a responsibility that directly impacts citizens’ lives.
The L-G motivated students by emphasizing the broader impact of their career choices on society. He highlighted that success should not be solely self-centered and that every profession, whether in government, academia, business, technology, law, media, or the arts, plays a role in shaping society. Sandhu encouraged students to consider not only their career paths but also the values they bring to their chosen professions.
In a message following the lecture, the L-G expressed his pleasure in addressing the Mahatma Hansraj Memorial Lecture at Hansraj College. He honored the legacy of Mahatma Hansraj Ji, recognizing him as an educationist, philanthropist, and a significant figure in India’s cultural revival. Engaging with students on India’s deep-rooted civilizational ethos, Sandhu emphasized that progress is intertwined with the spirit of Seva.
