Delhi Lieutenant Governor and DDA Chairperson V.K. Saxena inaugurated the “DDA Green Expo 2026” and Palaash Mahotsav 2026 at Baansera on the Yamuna bank. The Palaash festival signifies the shift from winter to spring, symbolizing renewal, color, and unity. This year, the festival is being held simultaneously at four locations from February 14 to 16.
Saxena expressed surprise at the transformation of the previously degraded site into a venue for the “Green Expo.” He highlighted the importance of planning a sustainable future for Delhi and emphasized the need for citizens to take responsibility for the environment. The LG praised Baansera as a model of greening and land reclamation, showcasing resilience and dedication.
The event marks a significant step towards a climate-ready and sustainable future for Delhi. The first day of the Expo included various activities such as the inaugural ceremony, MoU signings, keynote addresses, and exhibitions. The festival, hosted at multiple locations, is designed around themes that celebrate nature, sustainability, and community life.
The Palaash Mahotsav, coinciding with Delhi’s seasonal bloom and pleasant weather, aims to encourage citizens to engage with the city’s green spaces. Each venue features unique floral displays, curated gardens, and public activity zones, offering a collective narrative of Delhi’s bond with nature. The festival underscores DDA’s commitment to sustainable urban development and the creation of accessible public green spaces.
Visitors can enjoy elaborate floral arrangements, seasonal plant displays, and interactive green installations, showcasing a variety of ornamental and native species. The festival also includes artisan stalls, food courts, cultural performances, workshops, and participatory activities, catering to families, students, and visitors of all ages. Environmental awareness and public participation are key focuses, with interactive installations encouraging engagement with themes like biodiversity conservation and climate responsiveness.
