Sixteen central Delhi Metro stations, such as Lok Kalyan Marg, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, and Central Secretariat, were shut down on Wednesday due to increased security measures related to the Jantar Mantar protest. Despite the closures, interchange facilities at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House, and Central Secretariat are still operational for passenger transfers. The list of closed stations includes Ramakrishna Ashram Marg, Barakhambha Road, Supreme Court, Seva Teerth, Janpath, Mandi House, Central Secretariat, ITO, Delhi Gate, Indraprastha, Khan Market, Jor Bagh, and Shivaji Stadium.

This action follows violent protests that erupted on Monday as supporters of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) and students marched from Jantar Mantar towards Parliament. They demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan due to recurring examination irregularities, including NEET-UG paper leaks. The protests, originating at Jantar Mantar, attracted students, opposition figures, and activists advocating for accountability in the education sector. Delhi Police have pledged a thorough investigation into the unrest.

Amid the situation, security has been intensified in the vicinity to uphold law and order. Additionally, Union Ministers J.P. Nadda and Jitendra Singh met with innovator and climate activist Sonam Wangchuk at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram on Tuesday night. Wangchuk, who was moved from Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital for further treatment, had been discharged earlier and placed in the ICU at Medanta under the care of Dr. Sushila Kataria, an internal medicine specialist. The meeting occurred as Wangchuk continued his 25th day of an indefinite hunger strike.
