Delhi Minister Parvesh Verma criticized the former AAP government and ex-Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for alleged violations in building a lavish mansion known as ‘Sheesh Mahal’ and for cutting down greenery during its construction. Verma highlighted extravagant purchases and irregularities in contracts for the mansion, displaying a list of luxurious items bought for the residence.
He revealed that numerous trees were felled to make space for the palatial structure, emphasizing the rapid approvals and construction during the COVID-19 pandemic. Verma questioned the government’s priorities, pointing out the swift progress on ‘Sheesh Mahal’ while other public works lagged behind. The minister also accused Kejriwal of double standards regarding his living arrangements.
Claiming that plans for a second ‘Sheesh Mahal’ were halted after the AAP government lost power, Verma alleged potential wastage of Rs 60 crore. He criticized the AAP leadership for what he perceived as lavish and contradictory actions, contrasting with their public image. Verma’s statements in the Delhi Assembly raised concerns over the construction and expenses related to the controversial mansion.
