Delhi Cabinet Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa criticized AAP MLAs for leaving the Assembly, accusing them of avoiding discussions on contentious issues from the Arvind Kejriwal era. He expressed disappointment, stating that the opposition failed to fulfill its duties by evading accountability both in government and now as the opposition. Sirsa highlighted that the AAP members’ absence was linked to demanding the reinstatement of their four suspended MLAs.
The Minister pointed out that the opposition’s reluctance to engage in dialogue stemmed from their apprehension about past issues resurfacing. He emphasized the significance of addressing the CAG reports that were previously overlooked during Kejriwal’s tenure. Sirsa called out specific members, like Atishi ji, for their sporadic attendance and urged them to face the impending scrutiny rather than evade responsibility.
Sirsa underscored the necessity of addressing the alleged wrongdoings of the past 11 years, emphasizing that transparency and accountability are paramount. He challenged the opposition to confront the CAG report findings within the Assembly rather than resorting to protests outside. The Minister accused the opposition of orchestrating a “drama” outside the Assembly to avoid addressing critical issues raised in reports such as the PAC report.
Speaker Vijender Gupta also condemned the AAP MLAs’ boycott of Assembly proceedings, equating their actions to undermining democratic processes and constitutional institutions. He emphasized the importance of the opposition’s presence during crucial discussions, particularly when the Delhi Budget is being presented. Gupta criticized the AAP MLAs for disrupting proceedings, leading to the suspension of four members, and stressed the necessity of upholding parliamentary decorum.
