Delhi-NCR experienced heavy rainfall with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a ‘yellow alert’ for the national capital, predicting more rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds in the next five days.
The IMD forecasts generally cloudy skies in Delhi on Wednesday and Thursday, with intermittent light rain, isolated moderate showers, thunderstorms, lightning, and winds at 30-40 kmph, gusting up to 50 kmph.
The weather department anticipates continued wet weather in Delhi, with varying rainfall intensity and associated weather activity. Gurugram also grapples with waterlogging, flooding, and traffic disruptions due to recent heavy monsoon showers.
Delhi is expected to receive light to moderate rainfall on July 9, accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds in the morning and forenoon, with additional very light to light rain at night as per IMD’s forecast.
The IMD plans to lower the alert level to a Green Alert on July 10 and July 11, indicating no significant warnings. Cloudy skies are expected to persist on these days with chances of very light to light rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning during forenoon or afternoon.
Residents are advised to be cautious during thunderstorms and strong winds over the next three days. The IMD warns of unstable weather conditions continuing in Delhi and the surrounding National Capital Region.
