New Delhi, Aug 1 (IANS) Delhi-NCR residents woke up to cloudy skies and pleasant weather conditions on Saturday, offering respite from the recent spell of intense heat.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted generally cloudy skies accompanied by light rainfall during the day. However, high humidity levels continue to cause discomfort for residents across the region.

After experiencing several days of scorching temperatures and oppressive humidity, weather conditions in Delhi-NCR have improved over the past few days.

On Friday, the region remained under a blanket of light clouds, while intermittent drizzles brought temporary relief from the heat.

Despite the rainfall, humidity levels remained high, leaving many residents uncomfortable. According to IMD data, the maximum temperature in Delhi on Friday settled at 35 degrees Celsius, which was 0.6 degrees above the seasonal average.

Safdarjung, the city’s primary weather observatory, recorded the same maximum temperature, while Palam registered a high of 33.5 degrees Celsius, 1.4 degrees below normal.

For Saturday, the IMD has forecast a maximum temperature of around 33 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of approximately 25 degrees Celsius.

Relative humidity is expected to fluctuate between 75 and 95 per cent. The weather department has indicated that cloudy conditions will prevail throughout the day, with the possibility of light rain in several parts of the National Capital Region.

No specific weather warning has been issued for the day. The overall weather pattern is expected to remain unchanged on August 2, with temperatures likely to hover around 33 degrees Celsius during the day and 25 degrees Celsius at night.

Cloudy skies and light rainfall are expected to continue. A similar forecast has been issued for August 3, when the maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be 33 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Light showers and overcast conditions are likely to persist. On August 4, Delhi-NCR is expected to witness another cloudy day, with light rainfall predicted across several areas.

The maximum temperature is likely to remain around 33 degrees Celsius, while the minimum may drop to 23 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, the IMD has issued warnings for heavy rainfall and thunderstorms across 19 states, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar.

Strong winds reaching speeds of up to 60 kmph are expected in several regions. Farmers and fishermen have been advised to remain cautious.

Hilly states may face increased risks due to adverse weather conditions, including possible landslides, while some areas could also experience hailstorms.
