Residents of Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) can expect relief from the scorching summer heat as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts light to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds in the upcoming days. Delhi will see partly cloudy skies during the day, with chances of light rain and thundershowers in the afternoon and evening, accompanied by winds blowing at speeds of 40-50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph in some areas.
While daytime temperatures are not likely to change significantly in the next 24 hours, there may be a slight drop in the minimum temperature before it rises again. The maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to range between 37 and 39 degrees Celsius, with the minimum temperature hovering around 25 to 27 degrees Celsius. Meteorologists attribute this weather shift to a western disturbance and local weather systems, supporting pre-monsoon rainfall and thunderstorm activity in Delhi-NCR until June 21.
The IMD predicts intermittent showers, cloudy skies, and occasional thunderstorms to persist in the region until Sunday, keeping daytime temperatures comfortable due to increased cloud cover and moist winds. The southwest monsoon is also anticipated to gradually revive after a slow progression, with improved rainfall activity expected in Central India soon. Weather experts have issued alerts for 19 states, warning of rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds in the coming hours.
