Delhi Police have apprehended another suspect in connection with the tragic Malviya Nagar hotel fire that claimed 21 lives and left many injured. The arrested individual, identified as Keshav Negi, the hotel’s cook, was taken into custody after investigations pointed to his alleged negligence as the cause of the fire.
Several other persons have also been detained in relation to the incident, with ongoing questioning as the investigation progresses. Additionally, the property’s owner, Lavkesh Bajaj, was recently placed in police custody for four days following extensive search operations conducted by the Delhi Police across the capital.
During a court hearing, Bajaj’s lawyer raised concerns about not receiving a copy of the First Information Report (FIR), which the police assured would be provided. The police, seeking further information on the hotel’s staff and access to operational records, justified the need for continued custody.
The severity of the fire has hindered forensic investigations at the site, as mentioned by Delhi Police in court. Meanwhile, a hospital bulletin reported that 15 patients, including international visitors, are under treatment, with some showing signs of improvement. The hospital continues to provide comprehensive care for all patients to ensure their recovery.
