In a significant move against drug trafficking, the East District Police in Delhi have apprehended a female drug peddler and her suspected supplier. They seized 106.68 grams of heroin/smack and Rs 1,01,732 in cash, believed to be proceeds from drug sales. The operation was part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and abuse in the national capital, as per a press release by the East District Police.
The crackdown began following a tip-off on June 21 about a woman selling heroin near Metro Pillar No. 51 in Vijay Block, Laxmi Nagar. The suspect, identified as 42-year-old Farzana Begum from Loni, Uttar Pradesh, was caught with 31.68 grams of heroin/smack and Rs 4,832 in cash. During interrogation, she disclosed her supplier’s identity.
Acting on this information, a police team led by Inspector Manoj Kumar arrested the supplier, 26-year-old Imran from Kartar Nagar, Delhi, near Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital in Shastri Park. They recovered 24 grams of heroin/smack from him and found an additional 51 grams hidden in his scooter. The total seizure from both individuals amounted to 106.68 grams of heroin/smack.
The recovered substance tested positive for heroin/smack after examination by the Mobile Crime Forensic Team. Along with the contraband, a total of Rs 1,01,732 in cash was seized from Imran and his vehicle. The suspects admitted during questioning that the money was earned through drug sales. Additionally, a red scooter, a mobile phone, and an earphone were confiscated by the police.
Efforts are now underway to trace the complete drug supply chain and other associates involved in the trafficking network. The East District Police emphasized their unwavering commitment to eradicating narcotics trafficking through intelligence-based operations and continued enforcement actions against drug networks in the district.
