Delhi Police’s Special Cell apprehended four individuals from Punjab and Delhi for allegedly planning a terror attack in the National Capital on behalf of ISI handler Shahzad Bhatti based in Pakistan. The accused were reportedly following instructions from handlers across the border to engage in terror-related activities in Delhi.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Shubdeep Singh (23), Gurjant Singh (22), Sajan Singh (28), and Gaganpreet (24), with three from Punjab and one from Delhi. Police seized two foreign-made pistols, nine live cartridges, and five mobile phones during the operation.
The arrests followed specific intelligence inputs about the group’s activities. A Special Cell team, led by Inspectors Satish Rana and Ashok under ACP Vivek Kumar Tyagi’s supervision, conducted raids in Delhi and Punjab. The first arrest was made in Amritsar, Punjab, where Shubdeep Singh was apprehended with a foreign-made pistol and mobile phones, leading to the subsequent arrests of Gurjant Singh and Sajan Singh.
Gaganpreet, the fourth accused, was later captured in Delhi. The suspects revealed during interrogation that they communicated with Pakistani handlers using foreign phone numbers to avoid detection by Indian agencies. The group allegedly received arms and narcotics shipments dropped by drones from across the border.
Police claimed that Gaganpreet had surveyed police stations and religious sites in Delhi and was tasked with carrying out a firing incident in the capital. Shubdeep Singh, also known as Vishal, has a history of involvement in drug-related cases and receiving drone-delivered weapons. Gurjant Singh and Sajan Singh were said to be actively receiving arms through drones and had prior involvement with drug-related offenses.
Gaganpreet, from Fatehgarh Sahib in Punjab, allegedly maintained contact with Pakistani handlers through social media. He was instructed to film police establishments and sensitive locations in Delhi for planning purposes. A case has been filed under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act, with more details pending.
