The Delhi Police Special Cell disclosed the arrest of four youths from different states for online radicalisation and recruitment aimed at establishing an Islamic state through ‘jihad’. These individuals were also linked to the Red Fort blast that resulted in 11 fatalities and numerous injuries. One of the accused had visited sensitive locations, including the Red Fort, posting photos with radical messages to influence others.
The arrested youths were indoctrinated into terrorism-related actions, with police seizing materials for making Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) from one of them. The accused’s mobile phones were also confiscated during the operation. The Delhi Police Special Cell, under the leadership of Inspectors Vinay Pal and Manoj Kumar, along with ACP Ashish Kumar, apprehended the suspects from Maharashtra, Odisha, and Bihar.
Among the detained individuals, Mosaib Ahmad, Jalaluddin Siddiqui, Mohammad Hammad were from Maharashtra, while Sheikh Imran hailed from Odisha, and Mohammad Sohail from Bihar. Investigations revealed their involvement in closed groups on encrypted social media platforms, focusing on radicalisation and recruitment for the purpose of establishing an Islamic state through ‘jihad’.
The probe uncovered that two members of the group were procuring materials locally to create a remote-controlled IED for a potential terrorist attack. The suspects’ tactics included urging others to gather weapons and explosives for ‘Ghazwa-e-Hind’, with one member seeking financial support through his social media platform. Additionally, promises were made to provide arms training to group members in exchange for monetary contributions.
