Delhi Police apprehended a well-known snatcher and seized five stolen mobile phones and a Honda Activa scooty from him. The arrest was made by a team from the Nand Nagri Police Station in the national capital. The scooty was utilized in various snatching incidents, as per police reports.
Following a complaint on July 6 about a mobile phone theft near B-6 Dharamshala, the police station initiated action. The complainant, Pooja, provided a statement, leading to the registration of FIR No. 375/2026 under Section 304(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at PS Nand Nagri. A police squad, headed by Inspector Virender and including ASIs Pramod and Anil, HC Deepak, and Ct. Praveen, conducted a detailed investigation.
Through a combination of CCTV analysis, technical surveillance, local intelligence, and offender profiling, the team successfully arrested the suspect, identified as Aakash, aged 36 and residing in Nand Nagri. During interrogation, the accused admitted to his involvement in multiple snatching incidents, resulting in the recovery of the stolen items and the scooty used in the crimes.
The ongoing investigation aims to establish the suspect’s connections to other cases and identify potential accomplices. Additionally, it was discovered that the arrested individual had a prior case under the Delhi Excise Act.
In a separate incident, the Anti Auto Theft Squad of Delhi Police’s Shahdara district apprehended a 28-year-old habitual auto thief and snatcher. The suspect, with a history of 19 criminal cases related to snatching, robbery, and Arms Act violations, was found in possession of five stolen two-wheelers and a snatched mobile phone.
