Anil had been on the run for nearly three years and was captured from Sheetla Colony in Gurugram, Haryana. He was declared a proclaimed offender in a case registered at Alipur police station under Sections 302, 174A, and 34 of the IPC on May 10, 2023.
Following specific intelligence inputs on March 24 about Anil’s movements in Gurugram, the WR-II unit of the Crime Branch, under Inspector Satish Malik and ACP Rajpal Dabas, conducted a successful raid near a farmhouse area in Sheetla Colony. Anil was arrested under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) provisions with the help of technical surveillance and field intelligence.
Anil reportedly confessed during interrogation to his role in the murder of Nazir in September 2022. Nazir, suspected of stealing vehicle parts, died due to the assault, and the accused disposed of his body near Nale Wala Road in Alipur using a tempo.
Two co-accused, Ranjit and Ramu, had been previously arrested in the case, while Anil and another accused, Dinesh, had been evading authorities since the incident. Anil, a resident of Alipur, had a background as a helper turned driver and had been working for Ranjit, who owned multiple commercial vehicles.
