In a swift operation named ‘Operation Shastra – No Guns, No Gangs’, the Delhi Police’s Najafgarh Police Station apprehended six individuals for possessing illegal firearms, including one linked to a murder case, within a day. The crackdown, part of the ‘No Guns, No Gangs’ campaign, is aimed at eradicating illegal firearms and dismantling criminal networks in the district. Led by DCP Kushal Pal Singh and Additional DCP-I Vikas Meena, the initiative has resulted in significant arrests.
During routine patrolling, Inspector O.P. Vishnoi and constable Bijender intercepted a black car near Nangli Sakrawati Bus Stand. Despite an attempt to flee, the police successfully stopped the vehicle and discovered a licensed pistol, an illegal pistol, and live cartridges in the possession of two occupants. Subsequently, FIR No.291/2026 under the Arms Act was filed at PS Najafgarh.
Head Constable Jitendra Singh, along with constable Durga Prasad, apprehended Ravi Sharma, 28, with an illegal country-made pistol and live cartridges during a patrol near Ganda Nala Road. Another arrest involved the capture of Pankaj alias Rakesh alias Kaliya, 21, who was wanted in a murder case in Haryana. Despite attempts to escape, the police recovered a loaded country-made pistol and cartridges from him, leading to the registration of FIR No. 298/2026.
In total, the police recovered five pistols, 32 cartridges, and a vehicle from the arrested individuals, marking a significant success in curbing illegal firearms possession.
