The Delhi Police Crime Branch’s NDR unit apprehended a wanted criminal, Brahamdev Bhagat, who had been on the run since 2020. Bhagat was arrested in connection with a violent robbery and assault case where the victim’s thumbs were reportedly severed.
Bhagat, a resident of Purnia in Bihar, was taken into custody on May 17 for his alleged involvement in FIR No. 109/2020. The case, registered at Dwarka Sector-23 Police Station, includes charges under Sections 342, 394, 397, 506, and 34 of the IPC.
The incident, dating back to March 17, 2020, involved the victim, Surinder Nanda, an event manager, being lured to a meeting in Dwarka. Upon arrival, Nanda was attacked by Bhagat and his associates, who also robbed him of valuables and money. The victim sustained severe injuries, including the loss of both thumbs during the assault.
Following a detailed investigation and a coordinated effort by the Crime Branch team, led by SI Dipender, Bhagat was finally located and arrested in Purnia. The accused has reportedly confessed to his role in the crime, and legal proceedings are ongoing.
