Delhi Police made a significant breakthrough by apprehending a 25-year-old supplier involved in illegal liquor smuggling. The arrest led to the recovery of 1,900 quarters of illicit liquor that was being transported from Haryana to Delhi. Additionally, the authorities seized the car used for transporting the illegal consignment.
The operation was part of a special drive initiated under the guidance of DCP Dwarka District, Kushal Pal Singh, aimed at combating organized crime and illegal activities in the region. Acting on specific intelligence received during evening patrolling on June 13, the police intercepted a white-colored Ritz car carrying a large quantity of illegal liquor in the nala road area.
A dedicated team, led by Inspector Sunil Kumar Rohilla and comprising other officers, laid a trap near the Delhi Jal Board Service Road on Golf Link Road in Sector-16D, Dwarka. The police successfully intercepted the vehicle and arrested the accused, identified as Rahul, son of Hariom, from Rohtak district in Haryana. A search of the vehicle revealed 38 cartons of Deshi Sharab, totaling 1,900 quarters of illicit liquor.
Following the seizure, a case was registered under relevant sections of the Delhi Excise Act. The accused, during interrogation, cited financial difficulties as the reason behind his involvement in illegal activities. Notably, the police found no prior criminal record for the arrested individual.
