The Inter-State Cell (ISC) of the Delhi Police Crime Branch has apprehended Harpreet Singh, a proclaimed offender under the NDPS Act, who had been on the run for seven years. Singh, also known as Mani, hailing from Bathinda, Punjab, was wanted in a criminal case in Bathinda as well. He was caught with intoxicating medicines in his possession, leading to his arrest in 2018.
Singh, who had been changing hideouts and identities to evade arrest, was granted bail in 2019 but later jumped bail, resulting in his proclamation as an offender in 2020. After persistent efforts, a team of ISC, Crime Branch, successfully traced Singh to the Trans-Yamuna area of Delhi, where he had been shifting residences in Ghaziabad to avoid detection. Acting on a tip, a dedicated team apprehended Singh near Dilshad Garden Metro Station.
During interrogation, Singh disclosed his movements across Faridabad, Loni, Hindon Vihar, and Ghaziabad with his family post his absconding. He had been working at various eateries in Delhi-NCR while maintaining minimal contact to evade police. The authorities have informed the concerned police station for further legal actions.
