Delhi Police have apprehended two Khalistani operatives for writing incendiary slogans at different locations in the national capital just before Republic Day celebrations. The arrests occurred amidst increased security measures in the city and continuous monitoring of potential threats associated with pro-Khalistan groups.
The two accused individuals were reportedly following the instructions of Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, a Khalistani separatist based in the United States, and his group ‘Sikhs For Justice’. Authorities suspect that these arrests were part of a planned effort to sow discord and disrupt public order in the days leading up to January 26.
It is believed that the two accused, identified as Baljinder and Rohit alias Kirath, were recruited by an associate of Pannun based in Canada to carry out the activities in Delhi. Baljinder, employed as an ambulance driver in the capital, and Rohit, his associate, were allegedly promised Rs 2 lakh to inscribe the slogan “Khalistan Zindabad” at specific locations across the city.
The primary aim behind this act, as per the police, was to instigate unrest and instill fear in Delhi before Republic Day, a time when security measures are at their peak. Both suspects are now in police custody and are undergoing interrogation. Authorities are also actively working to identify other potential individuals involved in the conspiracy or who provided support to the operation.
