Delhi Police have uncovered a fraudulent placement agency scam that deceived customers by promising domestic helpers. Two individuals have been apprehended for allegedly swindling a victim of Rs 33,000 under the guise of providing a housemaid. The accused are suspected of using the same maid to defraud multiple individuals across the city.
The scam came to light when a complainant, Shalini Mehta, reported being duped by Kumar Narsingh Bureau & Placement Service while seeking a domestic housemaid. The agency sent a maid named Jhanvi for a trial period, assuring the victim of formal agreements and police verification post-payment of charges. However, the maid vanished without a trace, leading to suspicions.
Following the complaint, the police registered an FIR and formed a team to investigate the case. Through meticulous analysis of digital footprints and financial trails, the authorities arrested two suspects. The alleged mastermind, Hitai Mukhiya, and an accomplice, Jhanvi Kumari, were identified as key players in the fraudulent operation.
The accused operated under fake names, collecting advance payments for maid placements, agreements, and verifications. They targeted individuals seeking domestic help online, deploying the maid who would abscond shortly after joining a household. The scam involved sending the same maid to different homes, perpetuating the fraud and duping multiple victims.
Police recovered incriminating evidence during the operation, including mobile phones, SIM cards, and cash receipts. The crackdown on the fake placement agency emphasizes the need for caution when hiring domestic help online. Citizens are urged to verify agencies, demand proper documentation, and refrain from making advance payments without thorough validation.
