In a significant operation, the Delhi Police East District’s Anti-Narcotics Squad has dismantled an illegal arms supply network with connections to western Uttar Pradesh. Three individuals have been arrested, and a substantial amount of firearms, ammunition, and a vehicle have been seized. The arrested individuals include Babu alias Murdari, Raj Kumar from Rajvir Colony in Ghazipur, Delhi, and Parvinder from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, who is believed to be the source of the illicit weapons.
The operation, conducted on April 23, was based on specific intelligence indicating that two known offenders would be carrying illegal arms near the CRPF Red Light. Acting promptly, a team led by Inspector Arun Kumar intercepted the suspects’ vehicle, leading to the apprehension of Babu alias Murdari and Raj Kumar. During the search, an illegal pistol and live cartridges were found in possession of Babu, while Raj Kumar was carrying a button-actuated knife.
Further investigations revealed that the weapons were sourced from Parvinder in Meerut, with additional arms hidden in Dadri, Uttar Pradesh. A subsequent raid in Dadri resulted in the recovery of more firearms. Parvinder, who had been evading authorities, was eventually arrested in Meerut, leading to the discovery of additional weapons in his possession.
The police operation has successfully recovered a significant cache of arms, including automatic pistols, country-made pistols, knives, and live cartridges, along with the vehicle used in the suspected criminal activity. This timely intervention by the authorities has averted a potential criminal incident and exposed a broader arms supply network operating between Delhi and western Uttar Pradesh.
Further inquiries are ongoing to identify and dismantle all links within the arms supply chain.
