Delhi Police’s South District has successfully dismantled an inter-state burglary gang that was allegedly responsible for 18 theft cases in Delhi-NCR. Three individuals have been apprehended, identified as Sonu, Arif, and Chand, with the recovery of Rs 3.98 lakh in cash, 22 bundles of stolen copper wire, two vehicles, and burglary tools. The arrests were made following a burglary at an electric shop on IGNOU Road in Mehrauli on the night of May 12 and 13.
Sonu, a tempo driver, along with Arif and Chand, who worked as TSR drivers, were involved in the criminal activities. The gang utilized a Skoda Fabia with fake number plates for their operations to avoid detection. The police team, led by Inspector Ritesh Sharma and supervised by ACP Mehrauli Raghubir Singh, used CCTV footage and technical surveillance to track down the culprits.
The investigation revealed that the gang targeted electric shops at night, stealing copper wire bundles and cash. To evade suspicion, they maintained regular jobs during the day. While three members have been arrested, efforts are ongoing to capture the remaining accused, Ayyub, Akbar, and Ubais, who managed to flee. The police are conducting raids to apprehend them and recover more stolen items.
