The Delhi Police Crime Branch uncovered a significant racket involved in the illicit sale of Tata IPL match tickets and apprehended three individuals who posed as authorized sellers. Among the seized items were 54 match tickets, including 33 complimentary passes labeled as “Not for Sale.” The accused, identified as Mukeem, Gufran alias Sajid, and Md. Faisal, were found selling complimentary passes at inflated prices of nearly Rs 20,000 each, while regular tickets were being sold at almost double their face value.

The accused allegedly determined prices based on factors such as demand, buyer profiles, and match popularity. Acting on specific information, the police team, led by Inspectors Man Singh and Sunder Gautam, arrested the individuals near Delhi Gate as they were engaged in selling IPL tickets at exorbitant rates. The accused falsely represented themselves as authorized representatives of cricket administration bodies to deceive buyers.

An FIR has been filed under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and all three accused are in police custody. Investigations are ongoing to identify other individuals associated with the syndicate. Previous criminal records of the accused reveal their involvement in various offenses, including cheating, theft, and gambling-related cases.
