In a significant development, the Delhi Police have successfully resolved a blind robbery case in just 48 hours by apprehending four robbers. The police, after scanning 200 CCTV cameras and tracking a 32 km route in the national capital, also captured the mastermind behind the crime. Officials confirmed the arrests on Friday.
The incident unfolded on February 16 when a snatching episode near Ganga Ram Hospital Crossing was reported at Karol Bagh police station. The victim, who had come from Dwarka to Karol Bagh for shopping, was approached by two individuals. One of them claimed to have stolen cash and needed help depositing it due to not having a bank account. Despite showing cash to gain trust, they attacked the victim, striking him on the head with a brick and fleeing with his iPhone.
Following the victim’s statement, a case was registered, and a specialized police team was formed to track down the culprits. Through CCTV footage analysis and technical surveillance, the police identified the suspects’ vehicle and successfully intercepted them near Delhi Cantt. The arrested individuals, namely Ibrar, Suleman, Aashiq Khan, and Aslam, confessed to their fraudulent tactics involving fake currency bundles and online payment scams.
The accused would approach unsuspecting victims with fake cash bundles, convincing them to make online payments against promises of sharing the money. However, in this case, the victim resisted, leading to a physical confrontation where the robbers snatched his phone before fleeing. The police highlighted the importance of vigilance and caution against such deceptive schemes.
