The Delhi Police have initiated legal action by filing an FIR in response to an alleged assault on a Rapid Action Force (RAF) member during the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protest in New Delhi. The FIR was lodged based on videos circulating on social media that purportedly depict protesters attacking the RAF personnel and damaging a vehicle during the protest. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident following the reported assault.

A total of 10 FIRs have been registered by the Delhi Police in connection with the CJP protest and various law-and-order incidents that occurred during the demonstration. These cases have been filed at different police stations in central Delhi, with Parliament Street Police Station registering four FIRs, Connaught Place Police Station registering three, and one each at Mandir Marg Police Station, Barakhamba Road Police Station, and Kartavya Path Police Station. The FIRs cover a range of incidents reported during the protest and issues related to public order maintenance.

The clashes that erupted during the CJP-led ‘Sansad Chalo’ march on Monday prompted the filing of these FIRs. The protest, where protesters and students aimed to march from Jantar Mantar to Parliament, was met with barricades and restrictions by the police to prevent the march from extending beyond the designated protest area. Meanwhile, the Delhi Police refuted claims of stone-pelting and police action during the protest, labeling the circulating videos as “false and misleading.” The police urged the public to rely on official sources for accurate information and updates.
