Delhi Police have pinpointed and questioned a 36-year-old man from Ghaziabad regarding a series of fake bomb threat emails sent to various sensitive government entities and an Air India flight. The threatening emails, received on June 29, 2026, claimed the presence of bombs at high-security locations like the NIA headquarters, ISRO, NPCIL, DRDO, MoCA, and an Air India flight to New York. After security checks, it was confirmed that the threats were false.
A rapid technical investigation honed in on two Gmail accounts suspected of sending the emails. By tracing the email trail and digital evidence, investigators linked a mobile number to the accounts and located the suspect in Sanyog Nagar, Ghaziabad. Delhi Police’s Chanakyapuri Sub-Division team, led by Sub-Inspector Subhash and supervised by ACP Arshdeep Singh Panwar, examined the suspect at his residence.
The suspect, identified as Nishant Tyagi, 36, from Sanyog Nagar, Bank Colony, Ghaziabad, had pursued education through open schooling and started a bachelor’s degree in 2010 but did not finish. Initial findings suggest the suspect has been receiving treatment for an illness since 2008. Family members shared his medical history with investigators, which is under verification. No explosives were found during the search, indicating the emails were hoaxes.
The investigation is ongoing to uncover the motive behind the emails, analyze digital evidence, and understand the circumstances of the threats. Legal actions will follow based on the investigation’s outcomes.
