New Delhi, Aug 15 (IANS) A Delhi Police team from Sonia Vihar Police Station solved a case of attempt to murder with the arrest of two accused and recovered the weapon used in the offence, a robbed gold chain, a mobile phone and Rs. 1 lakh in cash.

An official statement said that on August 12, at about 12:18 a.m., Sonia Vihar Police Station received information from the on duty PCR staff regarding an injured person found near First Pusta area, who was then taken to JPC hospital.

Upon reaching the hospital, police found that the injured, identified as 32-year-old Pramod Yadav, was shifted to Max Super Speciality Hospital at Shalimar Bagh, by his family members. There the injured person was admitted to the ICU and was operated upon.

On further enquiry it came to the fore that Pramod Yadav works at a jewellery shop in the capital’s Chandni Chowk area. While he was returning home after parking his car near 2.5 Pushta, Sonia Vihar, two unknown persons approached him on the service road and attempted to rob him. During the incident, the accused assaulted him with a sharp-edged weapon and fled from the spot after robbing him of his gold chain and mobile phone.

Accordingly, FIR No. 163/2026 under Section 109(1) BNS was registered at PS Sonia Vihar and investigation was taken up.

Officials said that a dedicated team led by Insp. P.K. Jha, SHO/PS Sonia Vihar, meticulously collected and analysed evidence from various sources during the investigation. On the basis of the information and evidence gathered, two accused persons, identified 21-year-olds Mubbashir and Salman, were arrested from the area near Chauhan Patti.

During interrogation, both accused disclosed their involvement in the commission of the crime. The mobile phone belonging to the injured was recovered from their possession.

Upon sustained interrogation, the accused further disclosed that they had pawned the robbed gold chain at Muthoot Bank, 3rd Pushta, Main Market, Sonia Vihar. At their instance, Rs. 1,03,000, that was received against the pawned gold chain, was recovered. Thereafter, the robbed gold chain, weighing approximately 24 grams, along with the relevant pawn or loan documents, was recovered from Muthoot Bank.

During further investigation, the weapon used in the commission of the offence, i.e. a surgical blade, was recovered at the instance of the accused persons from the bushes near Chauhan Patti.

In view of the investigation conducted and the recoveries effected, Sections 309(4)/311/317/3(5) BNS were added to the case on August 14. Further investigation is in progress.
