Delhi Police’s Special Cell apprehended Saddam Hussain, a proclaimed offender associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi-Hashim Baba crime syndicate, who had been on the run since September 2024 for the murder of businessman Nadir Shah in South Delhi. The arrest was made by a team led by Inspectors Alok Kumar Maurya and Nitu Kumar under ACP Ashish Kumar’s supervision.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Praveen Kumar Tripathi mentioned that 16 members of the crime syndicate had already been detained in connection with the case. Saddam was tracked down in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh, on July 20 following a tip-off from a reliable source. Subsequently, a pistol and three live cartridges were seized in Delhi’s Shastri Park area based on information provided by Saddam.
Nadir Shah, a businessman and gym co-owner, was fatally shot outside his gym in Greater Kailash-I on September 12, 2024. Investigations revealed the involvement of the Lawrence Bishnoi-Hashim Baba syndicate in orchestrating the murder as part of an extortion scheme. Saddam, along with Sajid Faddi, aided the shooters and other suspects involved in the crime and helped in concealing the weapons used.
Saddam, originally from Amroha and residing in Delhi’s Jafrabad area, operates a children’s garment store. He ventured into criminal activities through his associate Sohel alias Chappal, a member of the Hashim Baba gang. Saddam has a history of arrests, including cases related to attempt-to-murder and extortion. He was wanted in multiple cases under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act at Greater Kailash Police Station, where he was declared a proclaimed offender by the court.
