The Delhi Pro Volleyball League (DPVL) has been officially launched with the backing of the Delhi Volleyball Association and support from the Delhi Olympic Association. Former national volleyball players Neeti Rawat and Jasoda Gulliya made the announcement, with the league set to commence in 2026.
Kuldeep Vats, President of the Delhi Olympic Association and Joint Secretary of the Volleyball Federation of India, expressed full support for the league during the official announcement. The DPVL will consist of six franchises and will include players from Delhi and across the country, selected through fair and open trials in the upcoming months.
Delhi has a history of producing exceptional volleyball talent, noted Vats, emphasizing the significance of the DPVL in providing a professional pathway for players and enhancing the volleyball ecosystem at state and national levels. Sudhir Vats, President of the Delhi Volleyball Association, also welcomed the initiative, highlighting its role in identifying and nurturing talent within Delhi.
The launch of the Delhi Pro Volleyball League aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s view that volleyball fosters coordination, cooperation, and collective strength. The league aims to contribute to India’s growing sporting economy and establish Delhi as a prominent entity on the professional volleyball landscape. Co-Founder Jasoda Gulliya outlined the league’s vision of offering stability, transparency, and long-term value to players, franchises, and partners.
Neeti Rawat, Co-Founder of the DPVL, stressed the league’s objective of providing a consistent professional platform for Delhi’s abundant volleyball talent, offering exposure, recognition, and a clear pathway to higher levels of competition. The event also honored Delhi’s Junior Boys and Girls Volleyball Teams, with the Junior Boys team finishing as runners-up at the National Championships, underscoring the necessity of platforms like DPVL for young players to excel and advance in their careers.
