Delhi Art and Culture Minister Kapil Mishra revealed plans for the upcoming Delhi Shabdotsav, the nation’s biggest literature and cultural festival, scheduled for January 2-4 at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium. Mishra emphasized that the event, to be an annual affair under the Ministry of Culture, will showcase over 100 speakers, including National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, and feature 40 book releases, six cultural performances, and two poets’ meets.
Students from around 40 universities in Delhi NCR will actively participate in the festival, which will encompass diverse programs like Bharatnatyam, Kathak, Bhajan Sandhya, Kavi Sammelan, and Somnath Jyotirlinga Darshan. The festival will be inaugurated by Delhi Chief Minister M Rekha Gupta, with the presence of Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami and Chhattisgarh Home Minister Vijay Sharma.
Rajiv Tuli, part of the organizing team, highlighted the festival’s aim to promote Indian cultural and spiritual values, emphasizing the need to engage the country’s youth in cultural events to break free from colonial mindsets. Drawing inspiration from a similar event in Kashi, the Delhi festival will also include a food festival offering local delicacies, with free entry for all attendees who register via QR codes.
