Delhi University Vice Chancellor, Yogesh Singh, emphasized the need for a thorough evaluation of the proposed shift of the NEET-UG exam to a computer-based setup. He highlighted that addressing the core issue behind paper leaks is crucial rather than solely introducing new systems. The NEET-UG 2026 exam has been rescheduled by the National Testing Agency to June 21 in response to allegations of a widespread paper leak during the previous May 3 exam.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan revealed adjustments for the upcoming NEET re-examination, including a 15-minute extension for the June 21 test and the issuance of admit cards by June 14. Additionally, starting next year, NEET-UG will be conducted in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode. Yogesh Singh expressed the necessity for a comprehensive examination of various aspects related to the transition, especially in light of frequent cyber attacks.
Singh cautioned that implementing technological changes alone would not suffice in preventing paper leaks unless organized networks involved in such malpractices are dismantled. He stressed the importance of addressing the root cause and ensuring strict actions against any complicit officials within the NTA. Singh urged against politicizing the issue and emphasized the significance of safeguarding the future of students affected by the examination disruptions.
