Delhi’s air quality stayed in the poor to very poor category on Tuesday, with Anand Vihar recording the highest Air Quality Index (AQI) at 331. The weather in Delhi-NCR has been fluctuating since early February, with a shift towards warmer temperatures before Holi. Mornings and nights are cool, while strong afternoon sunshine dominates the capital and its surroundings.
The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) reported varying AQI levels across different areas: Anand Vihar (331), Ashok Vihar (252), Bawana (248), Chandni Chowk (218), and others. The Supreme Court has urged the Centre to explore relocating coal-based industries from Delhi-NCR and consider banning coal-based thermal power plants within a 300-km radius of the capital to combat air pollution.
A proposal to move coal-based industries out of Delhi-NCR was suggested by the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) and is under consideration by the Union Ministries. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) notes light fog and mist in the mornings but has not issued any major alerts. Skies are expected to be clear in most parts of Delhi on Tuesday, with pleasant weather as the day progresses.
The cold spell in Delhi has ended, with temperatures ranging from 12 to 14 degrees Celsius in the morning and 29 to 31 degrees Celsius in the afternoon. Monday saw warmer temperatures in Delhi with no rainfall reported at key weather stations, as per the IMD.
