The Delhi Development Authority’s Palaash Mahotsav was inaugurated by Delhi’s Lieutenant-Governor, Vinai Kumar Saxena, emphasizing the significance of green public areas and public involvement in environmental preservation. The festival, celebrating the shift from winter to spring, showcases efforts towards sustainable urban development and accessible green spaces in the national capital. Visitors can enjoy floral displays, interactive installations, artisan stalls, and cultural performances at the event.
The L-G announced the extension of the two-day festival to three days due to public enthusiasm. The park offers walking and cycling tracks to promote exercise among Delhi residents, aligning with the Fit India initiative. More DDA parks are set to be developed and opened to the public soon, enhancing recreational spaces in the city. Minister of State for Corporate Affairs Harsh Malhotra and DDA Vice Chairman N. Saravana Kumar are also part of the festival.
Highlighting citizen responsibility for the environment, Saxena praised the transformation of the degraded Baansera site into a platform for sustainable planning. The ‘DDA Green Expo 2026’ and Palaash Mahotsav 2026 at Baansera aim to provide practical solutions to Delhi’s environmental challenges. The Green Expo’s Day 1 featured MoU signings, keynote addresses, and exhibitions, emphasizing Delhi’s vision for a climate-resilient future.
