They secured this milestone by defeating UP Prometheans 10-5 in a thrilling match. Alvaro Robles and Bernadette Szocs played pivotal roles in Goa’s victory, leading the team to the top of the standings.
Staged under the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI), Butterfly UTT Season 7 boasts 42 players from across the globe, including 14 Olympians. This event aims to enhance the Indian table tennis landscape through high-level competition and developmental programs. Goa’s dominant performance was highlighted by Robles and Szocs’ early wins, setting the tone for their unbeaten run in the league phase.
Despite a strong fightback from UP Prometheans towards the end, Dempo Goa Challengers maintained their unbeaten record with a historic league-stage finish. The mixed doubles match, where Szocs and Abhinandh secured a crucial win, played a significant role in sealing the victory for Goa. Dempo Goa Challengers’ success was further recognized through individual awards. Szocs was honored as both the MatchIQ Player and Foreign Player of the Tie, while Abhinandh PB received the Indian Player of the Tie award. Additionally, Robles was acknowledged with the Bisleri Shot of the Tie accolade for his outstanding performance.
