Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary and JD-U state president Umesh Singh Kushwaha held a press conference at the party office in Bihar. Choudhary mentioned that the new government, led by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, will soon seek a vote of confidence in the Legislative Assembly. He expressed confidence in the government’s ability to prove its majority comfortably.
Choudhary highlighted that the government, formed under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s guidance, will continue on the path of development. He stated, “The government is new, but its direction remains the same.”
In response to criticism about Bihar’s financial condition from Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav, Choudhary defended the state’s strong fiscal position. He also called on the opposition to be accountable for their own time in power.
Choudhary clarified that there is no blanket ban on land transactions in 11 districts, explaining that limited and temporary restrictions are only in place in specific areas with ongoing development projects. The Deputy Chief Minister hinted at a Cabinet expansion post the government’s majority confirmation in the Assembly, aiming to accelerate the implementation of their agenda.
Regarding Nishant Kumar’s upcoming Bihar tour starting from May 3, Choudhary viewed it as a positive move to enhance the party’s grassroots connections. He affirmed the validity of the liquor prohibition law, emphasizing that it was passed with consensus in the Assembly.
Choudhary attributed election-related violence in West Bengal to the All India Trinamool Congress, holding them accountable for the incidents. JD(U) leaders reiterated the government’s focus on political stability, development, and governance continuity.
