Deputy Chief Minister and State Congress President, D.K. Shivakumar, stated that he and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah would travel to Delhi only upon the party leadership’s call, dispelling rumors of an imminent trip. Shivakumar emphasized the importance of being summoned by the high command before making the journey.
Addressing reporters in Bengaluru, Shivakumar mentioned that they would respond promptly to the summons when received. He highlighted that going to Delhi without an official invitation would not be appropriate and reiterated their readiness to comply once summoned.
When questioned about potential positive news aligning with his upcoming 64th birthday on May 15, Shivakumar chose not to comment and left the interaction. Speculation had suggested a possible elevation to the Chief Minister’s position around that time.
Shivakumar dismissed allegations linking black-market ticket sales in Bengaluru to the relocation of an IPL match to Allahabad. He clarified that the decision to move the match was unrelated to ticket irregularities and emphasized the lack of substance in such claims.
Regarding the BCCI’s reported statement on ticket demands by Karnataka MLAs, Shivakumar stated that they would address the issue at an appropriate time. He refrained from elaborating further on the matter.
In response to queries about Congress supporting actor Vijay’s TVK party in Tamil Nadu, Shivakumar explained that the move aimed to prevent the BJP from gaining power. He cited political dynamics involving AIADMK and BJP as factors influencing the decision, emphasizing its alignment with the state’s interests.
Shivakumar declined to comment on the potential withdrawal of disciplinary actions against certain Muslim leaders for alleged anti-party activities during the Davanagere bypoll. He noted that the party had already made a decision in this regard and chose not to provide additional details.
Regarding Congress MLC Abdul Jabbar, Shivakumar confirmed the submission and acceptance of his resignation.
