Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar criticized Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, alleging that Kumaraswamy’s family had gained wealth from real estate deals. This comes after former Prime Minister H. D. Deve Gowda accused Shivakumar of pursuing business interests through the Bidadi Township project near Bengaluru. Deve Gowda claimed that Shivakumar indirectly owns 20,000 acres in the area.
Shivakumar, speaking at the National Public School in Horamavu, Bengaluru, responded to media questions about Kumaraswamy’s remarks on khata conversion fees. He dismissed Kumaraswamy’s statements, pointing out contradictions in his actions regarding the Bidadi project. The Deputy CM also highlighted alleged real estate dealings by Kumaraswamy’s brother in the PRR road project, accusing them of property intimidation and undervaluation.
In further rebuttal, Shivakumar criticized Kumaraswamy’s governance, questioning his contributions to the welfare of the poor. He emphasized the Congress government’s initiatives, including addressing rising fuel and commodity prices. Shivakumar defended his administration’s efforts in improving public services and property records, asserting bipartisan support for his work in Bengaluru.
Shivakumar dismissed Deve Gowda’s remarks about a power transfer, urging him to reflect on his son’s actions first. He suggested that Deve Gowda should address his son’s governance before commenting on other issues.
