Deputy Collector Arvind Mahour, stationed in Morena district, Madhya Pradesh, was apprehended late Wednesday night in connection with a rape accusation. A local court has remanded him to judicial custody until June 19, following a complaint by a woman on June 3.
The woman alleged that Mahour exploited her sexually under the guise of marriage. The Civil Lines Police, acting on her complaint, filed a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including charges of sexual exploitation and intimidation.
According to Morena Superintendent of Police Dharamraj Neena, the complainant claimed she met Mahour on Facebook. Their online friendship progressed to regular communication, culminating in Mahour allegedly establishing physical relations against her will at various locations between March 30, 2025, and June 3, 2026.
Police mentioned that the FIR also implicates a woman named Dolly Gayak, accused of pressuring the complainant to retract her case and issuing threats. Investigations are ongoing, with authorities scrutinizing digital evidence like mobile phone records and WhatsApp conversations.
After complaining of high blood pressure, Mahour was hospitalized and later presented before a district court. He remains in judicial custody until June 19. Previous allegations of misconduct against Mahour are also under investigation, with further actions contingent on the evidence gathered.
