Dhruv Jurel has been named as the replacement for Rishabh Pant in India’s ODI squad for the series against New Zealand. Pant suffered a side strain injury during a practice session, leading to his exclusion from the matches. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed Pant’s injury and the subsequent selection of Jurel as his replacement.
Pant, who was diagnosed with an Oblique Muscle Tear, will undergo rest and rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. Jurel, currently leading Uttar Pradesh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, has been in excellent form, scoring over 500 runs in the tournament. The young cricketer has joined the Indian squad as Pant’s replacement.
This injury setback is not the first for Pant, who previously suffered a foot fracture during a Test match against England. Pant’s absence from the ODI series against New Zealand will be a significant loss for the Indian team. The series is scheduled to commence at the Baroda Cricket Association Stadium in Vadodara.
