Ranveer Singh’s action thriller Dhurandhar has created box office history by collecting Rs 870.36 crore worldwide in just 17 days, officially becoming the highest-grossing Indian film of 2025. The Aditya Dhar directorial has overtaken Kantara: The Legend – Chapter 1, which concluded its theatrical run at Rs 852.27 crore globally.
The film’s third weekend performance remained exceptional, earning Rs 34.25 crore on Saturday and Rs 38.5 crore on Sunday domestically. The movie recorded an overall occupancy of 61.89% across 5,332 shows on Sunday, demonstrating sustained audience pull nearly three weeks into its release. Trade analysts note this represents the biggest third weekend collection ever recorded for an Indian film at Rs 99.70 crore.
Box Office Breakdown
India Collection: Rs 683.46 crore gross (Rs 579.20 crore net)
Overseas Collection: Rs 186.90 crore
Week 1: Rs 218 crore
Week 2: Rs 261.5 crore
Day 15 & 16: Rs 59.40 crore
Day 17: Rs 40.30 crore
Worldwide Total: Rs 870.36 crore
What makes this achievement even more remarkable is that while Kantara released in multiple languages, Dhurandhar has accomplished this milestone with a single-language release. The film has also surpassed Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava (Rs 807.91 crore) and Rajinikanth’s Coolie (Rs 180.50 crore overseas) to dominate both domestic and international markets.

International Success Story
Dhurandhar’s international performance has been equally spectacular, emerging as the highest-grossing Indian film of 2025 at the overseas box office. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh highlighted the film’s dream run in international markets, noting it has amassed $20.788 million (Rs 186.15 crore) gross box office collection excluding UAE-GCC territories.
If current trends continue, Dhurandhar is well positioned to cross the Rs 1,000 crore mark worldwide during the Christmas weekend—a first in Ranveer Singh’s 15-year career. His previous highest-grossing films, Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat, concluded their theatrical runs at approximately Rs 357 crore and Rs 585 crore respectively.
Originally, Dhurandhar was expected to face competition from Ikkis, starring Agastya Nanda and directed by Sriram Raghavan. However, the makers postponed Ikkis from its Christmas release to January 1, providing Dhurandhar an unobstructed run during the lucrative holiday season. Even Avatar 3, which opened on Friday, has been completely overshadowed by the Dhurandhar phenomenon, according to trade experts.
Fan reviews on social media platforms highlight the film’s impact, with viewers praising its screenplay, music, and performances. The retro song sampling and elevated music score have received particular acclaim, while the ensemble cast’s performances and screen presence have been lauded for maintaining relevance throughout the narrative.
