The Census-2027 process has started in Gujarat with digital self-enumeration. This initiative allows households to submit demographic details online before door-to-door visits. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel participated by entering his family details online, emphasizing the move towards digital governance.
The self-enumeration facility will be open in Gujarat from May 17 to 31, followed by field verification in June. The online system enables citizens to provide housing and household details securely, with physical verification later. The official census portal offers multilingual and mobile-friendly access to residents for participation.
In Ahmedabad, the City Census Department is promoting digital participation among elected representatives and officials. Ministers, MLAs, former ministers, and councillors have already submitted their details online. The initiative aims to enhance data accuracy and reduce field workload by allowing citizens to input verified information in advance.
The self-enumeration window in Gujarat will close on May 31, followed by field operations from June 1 to 30. During this period, enumerators will visit households for data collection. Citizens will need to provide their Self-Enumeration ID for verification during these visits. The nationwide exercise will be conducted in two phases, focusing first on housing and household data collection and then on population enumeration in 2027.
