Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh criticized the Ram Mandir Trust, accusing them of mishandling donations and land deals related to the temple. Singh, in a press conference at Ujjain, raised concerns about the management of various contributions, including cash, jewelry, silver bricks, and foreign funds. He called for a thorough investigation into alleged irregularities in land transactions and donation handling by the Trust.
Singh highlighted instances of corruption in land purchases, lack of proper acknowledgment for donations, and absence of receipts for contributions received from abroad. He emphasized the need for transparency and accountability in utilizing the donations made by devotees and urged for a detailed probe to uncover the truth. The Congress leader demanded immediate action, including the registration of an FIR against Trust officials Champat Rai and Anil Mishra.
Accusing the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) of exploiting religious sentiments for political gains, Singh criticized their involvement in the Ram Mandir affairs. He alleged that these organizations were misleading followers and donors, betraying the trust of the Sanatan community. Singh vowed to expose further details of the alleged irregularities after scrutinizing the obtained documents and reiterated his concerns about the management of the Mahakal Temple in Ujjain.
Singh announced the Congress’s plan to launch a campaign through local committees to address the donation discrepancies of the Ram Mandir in Madhya Pradesh villages. He stressed the importance of ensuring accountability and transparency in handling the contributions made by the public.
