Director Advaith Nayar shared insights about his upcoming action movie ‘Chatha Pacha’, starring Arjun Ashokan, Roshan Mathew, Vishak Nair, Ishan Shoukath, and Malayalam star Mammootty. Described as India’s first WWE-inspired film, it follows a group of friends striving to succeed together. Nayar highlighted the film’s focus on extravagant wrestling akin to WWE, blending characters, costumes, and intense matches.
Nayar explained that ‘Chatha Pacha’ is rooted in the dreams and camaraderie of friends in Kochi, a hub for pro-wrestling. Drawing from personal nostalgia and childhood memories of watching WWE, the director crafted a storyline that mirrors the passion and drama of WWE-style wrestling. The film captures the essence of Gatta Gusthi, a form of traditional wrestling, in a more dramatic and theatrical manner.
Discussing the film’s inspiration, Nayar revealed his childhood experiences and the discovery of small wrestling setups worldwide. He narrated how ordinary individuals, like taxi drivers and teachers, transform into wrestlers after work, pursuing their unrealized aspirations in makeshift rings. The movie aims to portray the resilience and determination of individuals who refuse to abandon their dreams despite challenges.
Nayar emphasized the fighting spirit of his city’s residents in Fort Kochi and Mattanchery, which influenced the film’s narrative. By showcasing their tenacity and dreams, the director sought to capture the essence of these communities. With a talented crew handling cinematography, editing, screenplay, music, and action sequences, ‘Chatha Pacha’ promises a high-energy cinematic experience.
The action-packed film is set to premiere worldwide on January 22 this year.
