Director Sudipto Sen, known for ‘The Kerala Story,’ has backed the upcoming film ‘The Kerala Story 2 – Goes Beyond’ and his own film ‘Charak.’ Despite the popularity of movies like ‘Animal’ and ‘Dhurandhar,’ Sen expressed frustration that films such as ‘The Kerala Story’ and ‘Charak’ are often branded as “propaganda.”
Sen voiced his concerns at the trailer launch of ‘Charak,’ criticizing the outdated practices of the censor board and the lack of fair opportunities for certain films to share their narratives. He highlighted the need for updated regulations in the film industry, emphasizing the importance of addressing filmmakers’ struggles and advocating for change.
Featuring a talented cast including Anjali Patil, Sahidur Rahaman, and others, ‘Charak’ explores themes of blind faith and occult practices prevalent in rural India. Sen revealed that the inspiration for ‘Charak’ stemmed from his fascination with traditional rituals and beliefs, culminating in a story that delves into the complexities of faith and fear.
Presented by Dr. Jayantilal Gada (PEN Studios), ‘Charak’ is directed by Shieladitya Moulik and produced by Dhaval Gada and Sipping Tea Cinemas, in collaboration with Sudipto Sen Productions. Rajesh Bhatt serves as the associate producer of the film.
