The DMK criticized the Congress for extending support to TVK chief C. Joseph Vijay in Tamil Nadu’s post-election political realignment. DMK Treasurer T. R. Baalu accused the Congress of betraying the alliance and the people’s mandate under the Secular Progressive Alliance. Baalu expressed disappointment in the Congress, stating that their recent actions have revealed their true nature.
The DMK Treasurer highlighted the historical support extended by the DMK to the Congress during challenging times. He mentioned the close ties between the two parties, citing relationships with Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh, and Rahul Gandhi. Baalu emphasized DMK President M K. Stalin’s consistent support for Rahul Gandhi both politically and personally.
Baalu criticized the Congress for transferring five MLAs to the opposition camp after contesting and winning as part of the DMK-led alliance. He accused the Congress of betraying the voters who believed in the formation of a DMK-led government. Drawing parallels with the BJP, Baalu alleged that the Congress was resorting to similar tactics to gain power in Tamil Nadu.
Despite the setback, Baalu affirmed that the DMK is familiar with defeat and betrayal. He stated that time would reveal the consequences of recent political developments.
