The ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam’s (DMK) manifesto preparation committee is set to kick off a comprehensive statewide consultation tour starting from Vellore on Monday. The initiative is part of the party’s efforts to gear up for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. The committee plans to gather opinions, suggestions, and policy recommendations from a diverse range of individuals and groups.
During the tour, the committee will particularly focus on engaging with stakeholders from the education sector and holding discussions with representatives from social organizations, professionals, youth groups, and grassroots party members. The insights gathered from these interactions are anticipated to significantly influence the content of the DMK’s election manifesto.
Following the launch in Vellore, the committee will visit various major towns and districts across the state on different dates. The itinerary includes locations such as Hosur, Thanjavur, Tiruchy, Tirunelveli, Ramanathapuram, Cuddalore, Salem, Coimbatore, and Madurai. The outreach program is scheduled to run until February 10.
The DMK’s leadership emphasized that this consultation exercise underscores the party’s commitment to participatory politics and inclusive policy formulation. By directly engaging with people from diverse backgrounds and regions, the DMK aims to ensure that its manifesto aligns with local aspirations, regional development needs, and overarching governance priorities. The committee is expected to compile the feedback received and present a detailed report to the party leadership for further consideration.
In parallel, the DMK announced that a meeting of its district secretaries, chaired by Chief Minister and DMK president M.K. Stalin, will take place on Tuesday. The meeting will concentrate on election preparations, including enhancing organizational structures, coordinating activities at the district and booth levels, and devising strategies to effectively showcase the developmental initiatives undertaken by the DMK government. The discussions during the meeting are anticipated to provide a strategic roadmap for the party’s upcoming election campaign.
