The bodies of six passengers involved in the bus-trailer collision on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Rajasthan’s Dausa district have been identified through DNA testing. Eight people lost their lives in the accident, with six passengers perishing in the fire and two succumbing to collision-related head injuries. The identified deceased individuals include Bhumi Bhaur, Priyanka Pandey, Deepak Tanwar, Nirmala Gupta, Devendra Singh, and Ram Avtar, the bus driver.
Following the identification process, post-mortem examinations were carried out, and the bodies were subsequently released to their respective families. DNA samples of four victims were tested in Jaipur, confirming their identities, after which post-mortems were conducted. The bodies of Devendra Singh and bus driver Ram Avtar were also identified through DNA testing, and post-mortems were completed before handing over the bodies to their families.
Kuldeep, the bus operator, and Dharamsingh, a resident of Bhutedi village, were among the victims. Kuldeep succumbed to head injuries, and after post-mortem, his body was given to his family. Dharamsingh’s body was returned to his family in Jhabua district. The tragic collision occurred on July 1, resulting in a fire that engulfed the sleeper bus after colliding with a trailer on the expressway.
Police and emergency responders transported the deceased and injured passengers to Dausa District Hospital. Due to severe burns making visual identification impossible, DNA profiling was crucial in establishing the identities of the deceased before their bodies were released to their families.
