US President Donald Trump recently shared a photo depicting him as the ‘Acting President of Venezuela.’ The image, seemingly from an altered Wikipedia page, portrays Trump as the current Venezuelan president as of January 2026. It also highlights his official roles as the 45th and 47th President of the United States.
Trump’s action comes amidst his statements about the positive relationship between the United States and Venezuela’s leadership. He mentioned cooperation on oil shipments and ongoing diplomatic interactions as signs of improving relations. Trump expressed satisfaction with the progress, stating, “Venezuela is really working out well.”
In a conversation aboard Air Force One, Trump revealed that Venezuela had requested the US to accept a substantial oil shipment. He confirmed the acceptance of 50 million barrels of oil, valued at around $4.2 billion, currently en route to the US. Trump also hinted at a potential meeting with Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodríguez in the future.
The US President indicated a forthcoming meeting with opposition leader Maria Corina Machado and discussed the interest of oil companies in Venezuela. While praising the response from most companies, he criticized ExxonMobil for its actions. Trump assured energy firms of safety and stability in their operations, attributing past challenges to previous US leadership.
Trump touched on broader regional diplomacy, mentioning discussions with Cuba without providing specifics. He emphasized the US military’s role in preventing oil or money transfers from Venezuela to Cuba. Trump asserted that Venezuela no longer needed protection from past oppressors, as the US military would ensure their security.
