A drug peddler was apprehended in J&K’s Anantnag district during a routine check, where police discovered ‘charas’ in his possession. The Anantnag police, in their efforts against drug trafficking, detained the peddler and seized a quantity of charas during a checkpoint operation in the district.
Authorities reported that while conducting a checkpoint in the Muslim Abad area of Anantnag, a suspicious vehicle with registration number JK01P-8668 was stopped by a police team from Police Post GBS. The driver of the vehicle tried to escape upon being signaled to stop but was chased down and caught by alert police officers.
The individual, identified as Milad Ayoub, son of Mohammad Ayoub Mir from Nai Basti, Anantnag, was found with approximately 95 grams of charas powder-like substance hidden in a polythene bag beneath the driver’s seat. A case under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been filed at Police Station Anantnag, and an investigation is underway to dismantle the drug network.
Anantnag police emphasized their dedication to eliminating the drug problem in the district and urged the public to assist by providing information on drug-related activities to the authorities. The police in J&K have intensified their anti-drug efforts as part of the ongoing 100-day-long Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan.
